Product FAQ: Traxxas Slash 4×4 Front Assembly

Thanks to Traxxas’s modular design, it was extremely simple to remove the entire front assembly to install our option parts.

Remove the plastic shock tower and install the aluminum shock tower (note the direction in which the logo was facing).  When installing the shock mounting spacer, be sure to use a bit of blue loc-tite on the screws.  Reinstall the body posts as well along with a bit of blue loc-tite on the mounting screws

For the steering assembly, line up the aluminum pieces next to the plastic pieces that it is next to so you are aware which side the aluminum parts reference with the plastic parts.  To begin with, leave the servo saver spring collar in the loose position and for the best protection on your steering servo, please use a servo saver on the servo as well (especially the plastic gear servos like the Traxxas stock unit)

When assembling the front steering knuckle and caster blocks, it’s a good idea to line them up in reference to the stock plastic pieces.  Note the steering knuckles are side specific with letter marking of “L” and “R” to let you know which side they belong to.

Use a bit of blue loc-tite on the king-pin screws for the steering knuckle assembly.  when installing the 12mm hex adapters, make sure to loosen the set-screw a bit so the hex adapter slides all the way on to the driveshaft, then tighten down the setscrew to hold it in place.  finally, re-assemble the suspension components back on to the front a-arms.

with the front assembly out, it is also a good opportunity to replace the center shaft with a color matching one
