Project Axial AX10: Center Chassis

By Team STRC, October 17, 2008 1:03 pm

We now focus our attention on the center chassis of our Axial project build.  We start by removing the center skid plate, and install our inboard links mount aluminum center skid plate (STA80007R)

Here’s a shot from underneath, as you can see the openings for the more preferred lower links inboard mounting position

We now turn our attention to the upper electronics plate. First we disassemble the stock aluminum plate and plastic lateral braces.

In securing the graphite plate to the chassis lateral braces, use a bit of lock-tite to ensure the machine countersunk screw stays in place

While we are going to mount majority of our electronics over the front axles, the graphite electronics plate (STA30483) will be lighter and stronger than the stock aluminum plate, and the key elemend of reducing more weigt at the top.  The aluminum chassis lateral braces (STA80008BK) are thicker and stronger compare to the stock plastic piece, and prevents the chassis from twisting.

Finally we add aluminum body posts (STA80005BK) to the main chassis plates.  Our body posts are available in a variety of colors to match what ever paint scheme you might have for your Axial AX10
