Project Axial AX10: Rear Axle
We start by working on the rear axle. First we installed our Axial rear lock-out kit (STA30494) Although the ARTR already came with a rear lock-out, our aluminum units will be much more durable than the plastic kit unit and less likely to flex.

As you can see, our aluminum lock out will work perfectly with the kit stock axle as well

However, for more durability, we installed the included STA30494 series stainless steel axles, which are quite a bit thicker in diameter than the stock ARTR rear axles

Upon disassembly, we noticed that Axial have ommitted the outter most bearing on the rear axle, so we installed another 5x10mm bearing on each side of the main axle for more durability before intalling our stainless steel axle.

Here’s a shot of the rear axle with our lock-out and axles installed

We next get ready to install our 4 link plate, which allows for use of 4 link suspension instead of the kit “Y” link

Here’s a shot of the 4 link plate installed on the rear axle, and the final touches of the red anodized lock-pin style hex adapter.

and finally, a shot of the completed rear axle
